Peter Rice, Director, (LLB, BBus)
Peter has worked in law and banking for 12 years. Starting as a solicitor
for a technology and intellectual property law firm; and then as a banker,
heading up a treasury operations department at Westpac Banking Corporation,
Group Treasury, Australia. He became sole legal counsel at Westpac Treasury
Global Funding covering the bank’s international and domestic capital markets
activities before transferring to Westpac’s London office and working for
Group Treasury and Westpac Institutional Bank division covering London and
New York offices, for all legal, transaction management and compliance matters
including capital markets, derivatives, structured credit product development
and analysis, and syndicated loans.
His move to UFJI International plc (a
proprietary trading house) saw him as deputy head of legal in charge of
legal, transaction management and compliance issues in connection with capital
markets, derivatives, structured finance, information technology, general
commercial and litigation, with a focus on the structured transactions on
the proprietary and client business side (debt issuance, structured notes
and equity derivative deals).
He has been involved extensively in mergers
and acquisition work including the merger and set up of UFJ International
plc with Sanwa International plc and UFJ International plc with Mitsubishi
Securities International plc, and the set up of hedge funds. He has recently
been lead advisor in the set up a securities company in the UK and advises
on structuring and legal issues for a large portfolio of CLOs, RMBS and
CMBS.
